How can this not make you sick? We've gone from our elective representatives selling themselves like whores to having them try to pay us like tricks. If it doesn't make you sick to your stomach, I don't know why.

Can you imagine the meeting that Frist and his group of hellspawn must have had to come up with this idea?
"Hey, we really need to find a way to use these high gas prices to our advantage."
"Clearly. We're taking money from the oil lobby with our left hand, but our right hand is just sitting around scratching our asses. How can we put it to work?"
"I think I've got the perfect plan to make everybody happy (except people that aren't fucking stupid or evil). We give the rubes a c-note, but we tie it to the Alaskan drilling. The rubes can go buy 100 lottery tickets, the oil companies keep greasing our left hand, AND if any(democratic)body tries to stop it, our right hand will wave like a flag in the wind, letting the rubes know how the democrats are trying to steal THEIR $100!"

The whole situation is idiotic. The price of gas is high, so the public gets "outraged". First off, buy a car that gets more than 12 mpg, you fucking idiots. Second, forget about the price of gas and start thinking about the supply and use of energy. Giving people $100 credits or trying to punish oil companies for making profits is beyond retarded. I have zero problem with oil companies trying to make as much money as possible. I have every problem with our elected officials not acting in the best interest of our country, but instead pandering to morons screaming about gas prices, while continually changing laws in the favor of oil companies. Instead of doing something meaningful in terms of fuel standards, alternative energey sources, etc.. they come up with idiotic ideas to lower the price of gas for a day or a week or a month. I guess you can't expect much more when suckers keep electing millionaire oil men to run the country.
